The demand for full statehood to Delhi should be taken on a mass level and people should make it a movement, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said on Tuesday.
"People of Telangana and Uttarakhand demanded a separate state, they got it. Delhi is already a state, we need to fight for our full rights," said AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj.
A special Assembly session has been called by the Delhi government from Wednesday to discuss the demand of full statehood for Delhi.
"This demand will not be fulfilled by our efforts. People should work to make it a movement," Bhardwaj said.
He said all the previous governments in Delhi had demanded full statehood, be it the Bharatiya Janata Party or Congress.
