Malaysia's stock exchange was temporarily evacuated on Friday due to a bomb threat, police said.

In a statement, Bursa Malaysia said that its building management received a bomb threat at 12.01 p.m., Malay Mail reported.

"Authorities have been notified. However, as a precaution, all tenants and staff have been evacuated and respective Business Continuity Plans (BCP) have been activated," it said.

Police have cordoned off the area and adjacent roads were blocked while a group of bomb squad officers inspected the building.
