In a bizarre accident, a 50-year-old guard at a construction site was decapitated when he got caught in an excavator machine while it was being used for digging, police said Sunday.
Mansoor Beig's torso was spotted at the construction site in north Delhi's Jahangirpuri area Sunday morning by a labourer who informed the police.
"The excavator driver immediately stopped work and fled the spot," a police officer said.
Police said Beig's head, which was found an hour after the incident, was also taken to a hospital along with the torso.
A hunt was launched to nab the driver - identified as Naresh Kumar.
Beig is survived by three sons and five daughters. He worked as a security guard for the past five years with a company which prepares road construction material.
The labourers staged a protest at the site and demanded immediate arrest of the driver.
