A 10-year-old girl was raped by her brother-in-law at a secluded spot here, police said on Wednesday, adding the accused was caught and beaten up by the victim's family.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening in Jaitpur in south Delhi.
Police said the victim's brother-in-law, Akhtar Hussain, on Tuesday evening took her to a secluded place on the pretext of buying her new clothes.
"He raped her and threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone but the girl narrated it to her family," said a police official.
The official said Hussain was beaten up by his relatives, who later handed him over to police. Hussain works as a scrap dealer and married the victim's sister three years ago.
