A 36-year-old man is battling for his life in a city hospital with critical injuries he received after jumping in front of a Metro train here on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Ajay Kumar, a resident of Durga Vihar in south Delhi, received multiple injuries on his head, hands and legs after he jumped on the track from platform number two of Chhatarpur Metro station around 2 p.m.
"Kumar jumped before a Metro train which was heading towards Jahangirpuri from Huda City Centre," said a police official.
The official said Kumar was admitted at All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS).
"Doctors said that Kumar is in critical condition and his survival chances are bleak," he said.
Police are yet to ascertain the reason behind Kumar's suicidal attempt as no note was found on him.
Police are looking for his family members as he had no contact number on him.
