In a gruesome incident, an enraged man Thursday murdered his minor daughter's lover and surrendered after carrying the body in a gunny bag on his scooter to a police station, 20 km from where the crime was committed, police said.
"Riyaz Khan walked into our K.R. Puram police station with the body of 18-year-old Sadiq Pasha in a gunny bag and surrendered, claiming that he murdered his 11-year-old daughter's lover for abducting her July 30, a day after Eid," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) N. Satish Kumar told reporters here.
Police arrested 40-year-old Khan after registering a murder case against him.
"I was forced to kill him (Pasha) as he ignored my pleas to keep away from my daughter. In fact, I shifted my house to keep him away from my daughter. Instead, he eloped with her after Ramadan," Khan told police.
His daughter is a Class 7 student.
Though Khan filed a missing person complaint at the police station when his daughter did not return home till Aug 1, he located Pasha Wednesday through his friends and drove to Bannarghatta Road in the city's southern suburb with a plan to kill him.
"After slitting Pasha's throat and stabbing him brutally in a fit of rage, Khan stuffed the bleeding body in a gunny bag, put it on his scooter and drove about 20 km to the police station and surrendered," Kumar said.
The girl was kept in a house by Pasha, and was later brought back by her father's relatives. It was not immediately clear where she was when the crime took place.
