The alleged murderer of an Indian-origin woman was remanded in custody till Dec 19 by a New Zealand court Monday.
The man, charged with the murder of Sarwan Lata Singh, was presented at the Wellington High Court Monday.
Sarwan Lata, 38, was found dead at her Wellington home Nov 26, New Zealand Herald reported.
The man was granted interim name suppression.
Police said the accused knew Sarwan Lata and the two had spoken over phone in the past.
The accused was also found to have breached a protection order that the woman had earlier taken out against him.
A protection order is a legal order in New Zealand issued to protect a person against a perceived threat. Such orders are being issued in the country since 2010.
