A footwear shop owner shot a woman relative and himself here Wednesday after she refused to marry him, police said. Both were critically wounded.
Deepak, 25, targeted Renu, 25, a grocer's daughter, with a pistol around 4.30 p.m. in Daulatpura neighbourhood.
The two are cousins and their families were opposed to their marriage. Deepak, however, wanted Renu to marry him.
On Wednesday, Deepak again proposed to her but she refused. Suddenly, he whipped out a pistol and fired at her back before shooting himself in the neck.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh Yadav said: "The first priority is to save them."
