Edin Dzeko's second goal of the tournament secured Manuel Pellegrini's first title as Manchester City defeated Sunderland 1-0 in the final of 2013 Barclays Asia Trophy here.
Dzeko, whose semifinal goal against local club South China proved to be the winner, scored the only goal of Saturday's final after nine minutes, reports Xinhua.
The victory gave Pellegrini his first trophy as Manchester City manager, but the win was soured as the Chilean witnessed Matija Nastasic being taken off on a stretcher during the second half.
In an earlier match for the third place, Tottenham Hotspur mauled South China Club of Hong Kong 6-0. Jermain Defoe completed a hat-trick and also assisted Clint Dempsey.
