Filmmaker Pritish Chakraborty, currently directing sci-fi film "Mangal Ho", says its concept goes one step ahead of initiatives like Make In India.

Chakraborty told IANS: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative Make In India has definitely sparked the patriotic side of our filmmakers, who are making patriotic films such as 'Airlift'.

"Such initiatives popularize India on international platforms, but we plan to go beyond Make In India, and popularize India not just on a global level but on an out-of-the-world platform, that is Mars."

He added: "Our film is the first which talks about sending people to Mars. I hope our innovative concept brings more attention to India and its achievements in space."

"Mangal Ho" is the story of an attempt to send a couple to Mars and to create a civilization there, and has been portrayed in a light-hearted and humourous manner. Veteran actor Annu Kapoor is the scientist who spearheads this ambitious mission. Actor Sanjay Mishra plays a Bengali businessman in the film.

"When concepts related to space are created, it is obvious that the visual effects and VFX play a crucial role in the narrative. And though the shooting of the film is yet to be completed, our visual effects team have been putting in extra hours to ensure that the final product looks convincing on celluloid," Chakraborty said.

"Mangal Ho" has been jointly produced by Ascent Films Pvt Ltd and M.K. Media Pvt Ltd.
