An e-bike made by 'Team Tenacious' of Mangalayatan University near here has won the 'Best E-Bike Design Award' at the 'E-Bike Racing Challenge-2015' organised by Lovely Professional University of Jalandhar, Punjab.
The victorious team members told IANS that it took them nearly a month to build the eco-friendly bike that cost Rs.40,000. Weighing 110 kg, it can race up to 65km/hour for 120 km after charging for only two hours.
A total of 63 teams, including top engineering colleges, from around the country participated in the challenge.
The team bagged a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and a trophy as virtual round winners and Rs.8,000 and a trophy for best design, handed over by LPU chancellor Ashok Mittal and pro-chancellor Rashmi Mittal.
