A mascot designed on Fazli mangoes, known for its sweet juicy pulp and large size, will be used to spread awareness among voters ahead of the West Bengal assembly polls, an official said.

Fazli mangoes are from West Bengal's Malda district.

Christened 'Fazli Babu', the vibrant yellow-green mango mascot with a voter-identification card in hand will be displayed on stickers and cut-outs to spread the message of the Election Commission to "cast your vote without fear", said a Malda official.

Fazli mangoes from Malda are protected under the Geographical Indication (GI) registry of India.

Bengal goes to polls on seven dates beginning April 4.
