Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) President Babulal Marandi on Thursday demanded the registration of a case against Chief Minister Raghubar Das and a senior Indian Police Service officer on the charge of influencing the Rajya Sabha polls in the state in June.
A JVM-P delegation led by Marandi, a former Chief Minister, met Governor Draupadi Murmu and demanded an FIR against Das and others.
On Friday, Marandi had come out with a compact disc on the Chief Minister's meeting with Congress leader Yogendra Sao, who is husband of Congress MLA Nirmala Devi, on June 10, a day before the Rajya Sabha polls.
The CD allegedly showed a senior police officer speaking to Sao and also contained a conversation between the Chief Minister's political adviser Ajay Kumar with Sao.
"An investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation or a Special Investigation Team monitored by the Jharkhand High Court should be done into horse-trading charges. The IPS officer should be sacked. An FIR should be lodged against the Chief Minister and the police officer, said the memorandum submitted to the Governor.
The JVM-P's demand was echoed by the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress.
The memorandum said the state government misused police to confine Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislator Chamra Linda in a hospital and did not allow him to vote.
The BJP won both the Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand despite the fact that the numbers were not in its favour for both seats.
