Indian cricket board interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya said Monday banning after-match parties of the Indian Premier League could be a possible solution to clean up cricket, but one could not say it would definitely have the desired impact.

"Yes, that may be one of the possibilities. But we cannot say it will have the desired result. Too early to say. But all efforts must be made (to cleanse cricket)," Dalmiya said at his first media conference, a day after being asked to handle the day-to-day affairs of the board following its president, N. Srinivasan, stepping aside.

Dalmiya gave evasive answers to most of the queries during the 20-minute interaction, instead choosing to use expressions like "too early to say", "wait for some time" and "allow me to settle down first".

Asked whether he had any plans to stop IPL for a year in the wake of the spot fixing allegations which has marred its reputation, the seasoned cricket administrator said: "Efforts should be made to keep everything running. But how much it has to go that we have to work out according to the developments."
