Mercedes launches sports sedan E63 AMG

German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Thursday launched its sports sedan car E 63 AMG priced at Rs.1.29 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).

"With this launch, we now have a very unique and broad range of product offering in India," Eberhard Kern, managing director and chief executive, Mercedes-Benz India, told IANS.

"We have gone ahead and launched various new products this year. We have been getting a very good response from the customers."

The luxury automobile manufacturer has earmarked the current year for product offensive, as it has launched new segments like A-Class, B-Class and executive sedan E-Class.

"The launch of the new E 63 AMG further reiterates our promise of bringing fascinating cars and providing a memorable brand experience for customers," Kern said.

The new sports sedan is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 BITURBO engine with a displacement of 5,461 cc. The eight-cylinder engine develops a peak output of 557 hp at the rate of 5,500 rotations per minute (rpm).

The sedan can accelerate from zero to 100 km per hour in merely 4.2 seconds and can attain a top speed of 250 km per hour.

The sedan's engine is coupled with a seven-speed sports transmission system. In terms of safety, the sedan comes with eight airbags and an additional pelvis airbags for rear passengers.
