A Delhi court Thursday sent the Micromax mobile company's promoter Rajesh Agarwal to seven days CBI custody in a bribery case.
Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Judge Poonam Bamba also sent six others including four public servants to CBI custody till Aug 14.
The CBI Wednesday arrested Agarwal, co-founder and director of Micromax Technologies Pvt Ltd, and his associate Manish Tuli, when they were allegedly giving bribe of Rs.30 lakh to the officials of North Delhi Municipal Corporation for regularisation of an unauthorised property.
Apart from them, three engineers of the corporation -- Satish Kumar, Naresh Kumar and Sanjay Kumar, Delhi Development Authority's junior engineer Rajesh Gupta and private person Ashok Lamba were also arrested.
The CBI had sought seven days police custody of the accused to find out how many other government officials or persons were involved in the case.
It said their custody was required to unearth the larger conspiracy.
The CBI told the judge that Agarwal and Tuli were arrested while allegedly giving Rs.30 lakh bribe to the engineers of MCD to regularise the unauthorised construction of a banquet hall owned by Tuli and the DDA official was acting as a middleman.
The CBI has booked them for the offences of criminal conspiracy under the IPC and various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The agency said FIR was registered on a source information that Agarwal and Tuli had entered into a deal with engineers of the civic body to get clearance for construction of the banquet hall in Wazirpur area in exchange of bribe of Rs.50 lakh.
