Midfielder Eden Hazard Thursday signed a new 200,000 pounds-per-week contract with English football club Chelsea that will keep the Belgian at the Stamford Bridge stadium until 2020.
The 24-year-old playmaker expressed his delight after signing the contract. The deal is worth a huge 57 million pounds over the course of five-and-a-half years, reports dailymail.co.uk.
"I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea. Since I came here in 2012 I have always felt good and the club has been very supportive to me," Hazard said.
"I hope we can repay that support by winning lots of trophies, beginning with the Capital One Cup at the Wembley Stadium, and after that, we can push hard towards the end of the season."
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho criticised Hazard in May last year, claiming "he is not the kind of player ready to sacrifice himself 100 per cent for the team".
However, Hazard appears to have earned the trust of his manager, having started each of Chelsea's English Premier League matches in the current campaign.
"I am very happy that Eden has signed a new contract," Mourinho said.
Hazard represented Belgium in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
