Union minister Ram Shankar Katheria on Saturday said he has urged his cabinet colleague and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma to take steps to popularise lesser known monuments in Agra, which is home to the iconic Taj Mahal.
Katheria, who represents the Agra Lok Sabha constituency, said he has written to Sharma informing him about the more than 100 monuments and tourist spots in Agra.
The minister of state for human resource development said at present tourists have little or no idea about the bird or crocodile sanctuaries, Keitham Lake, Babar's Ram Bagh or Chini ka Roza.
Tourists can also visit Mirza Ghalib's birth place, he added.
