Captain Misbah-ul-Haq hammered 93 off 60 balls to give Faisalabad Wolves a consolation win over Kandurata Maroons in their final match of the Champions League T20 qualifiers at the PCA Stadium here Friday.

Misbah, who scored 46 and 56 in the last two games, saved the best for the last leading the Pakistani side to 146 for six in 20 overs. Sri Lanka's Maroons ended with 136 for seven with skipper Kumar Sangakkara (44) being the innings' top scorer. Medium pacer Ehsan Adil was the pick of the Wolves' bowlers, taking three for 26.

It was the final match of the tournament for both teams which failed to qualify for the event's main leg beginning Saturday. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Otago Volts have advanced to the next stage.

"Finally we have something to cheer about. We got through many corrections and performed better today. This gives us the belief to perform better in the future. We were disappointed by our batting but the bowling is a positive especially the way our spinners bowled. Samiuallah Khan and Asad Ali also bowled well and kept the pressure on the batsmen. Ehsan Adil got us back in the game," said Misbah.

Brief scores: Faisalabad Wolves 146 for six in 20 overs (Mibah 96; Lokuhettige 3/21), Kandurata Maroons 136 for seven (Sangakkara 44, Tharanga 25; Adil 3/26, Imran Khalid 2/27).
