The makers of upcoming investigative thriller "Missing On A Weekend" on Wednesday announced that the film will release a week later than scheduled. It will now hit the screens on July 1.
"Making a film is just half the job done, which is actually completed with a good release. With such crazy traffic (at the box office) on June 24, we thought that would not do justice to the film," Abhishek Jawkar, director, co-producer and editor of the film, told IANS.
"We, the makers and the distributors, have made a combined decision to push the release by a week for some breathing space and better showcasing. So now the film will be releasing on July 1," he said.
"There is a clutter of films releasing on June 24 and we didn't want to get overshadowed in the clutter. That's the bitter politics of our industry -- films with the bigger stars always get more screens. The exhibitors will never consider the content, which in our case, I believe, is far superior than the others'," he added.
Earlier, Anurag Kashyap's "Raman Raghav 2.0", "7 Hours To Go", "A Scandall", "Junooniyat" and "Shorgul" were slated to release on June 24, but "Junooniyat" and "Shorgul" advanced the release of the film to June 17.
Now, "Missing On A Weekend" will clash with the Kay Kay Menon starrer "San 75".
"Missing On A Weekend" stars Pavan Malhotra and veteran singer Hariharan's son Karan in lead roles among others. The film is presented by the Red Bulb Studios and Adept Films.
