A three-storey building starts shaking and collapses within seconds. Several people are trapped inside and cry out for help. This was part of a mock earthquake demo held at the India International Trade Fair here Monday.
The National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) demonstrated the earthquake situation at the Hamsadhwani theatre at Pragati Maidan to create awareness about disaster management among the public.
The NDRF team created a mock earthquake situation and showed how it affects the surroundings.
"It was part of a disaster awareness programme and we wanted people to know the do's and don't's during a tremor," said an NDRF official.
The NDRF also demonstrated how to tackle chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear accidents and showed its role in various search and rescue operations. It also demonstrated various equipment used during a disaster.
