Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday condoled the death of educationist Kireet Joshi.
Joshi died in Puducherry Sunday.
Modi, in a statement, said: "Saddened by the demise of Kireet Joshi. He will be remembered as a fine scholar and educationist, devoted to the principles of Sri Aurobindo."
The prime minister recalled that when he was chief minister of Gujarat, Kireet Bhai, as an advisor, played a key role in setting up a children's university and an institute of teacher education.
Joshi was working for the Aurobindo Mission in Puducherry. He had left his job as Surat assistant collector in 1955 after being inspired by Sri Aurobindo and Mother.
He wrote several books on educational research.
He was appointed the first executive chairperson of the Gujarat Educational Innovations Commission in 2009.
