Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Navratri.
"Navratri greetings to everyone... On the first day of Navratri, we pray to Maa Shailputri," Modi tweeted.
The nine-day long festival is dedicated to goddess Durga. Each day, the nine forms of the goddess are worshipped.
The festival will conclude on September 30 with the Dussehra celebrations.
