Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday praised boxing icon M.C. Mary Kom and union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu for their effort towards "Swachh Bharat Mission".
"Swachh Bharat Mission will get a great impetus by Mary Kom joining the mission in Imphal," Modi said in a tweet.
Sharing news reports about the work done by the boxing star and Naidu, Modi said: "A very good effort by Venkaiah (ji), to clean beaches in cyclone-affected Visakhapatnam."
Like Modi, who went to Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate Diwali with the flood-affected, Naidu also went to Visakhapatnam, hit by cyclon 'Hudhud'.
Besides, Modi applauded religious guru Raghavendra Matha for taking up the clean India initiative.
"The effort by (Sri) Raghavendra Matha is a landmark effort, which is an important step towards a Clean India." Modi said in another tweet.
Modi launched the "Swachh Bharat Mission" campaign Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
