Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely Tuesday took on the BJP for failing to do enough to solve Delhi's power crisis and said the Narendra Modi-led union government should take responsibility for it.

"Delhi is being run by a governor who, in turn, is the representative of the Centre. The responsibility for dismal power situation lies with the Narendra Modi-led NDA government and Power Minister Piyush Goyal," Lovely alleged.

He brushed aside allegations by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that the erstwhile Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government handled power situation badly.

"The truth is the Congress ousted the BJP government in Delhi in 1998 because of the latter's poor handling of power crisis. The Congress provided stable power supply for 15 years," Lovely claimed.

He said the National Democratic Alliance-led government at the Centre should stop the blame game and work to provide solution for power shortage.

Reacting strongly to Goyal's statement that two weeks are needed to solve the power crisis, Lovely said if the minister wants he can come up with a solution in just a day.
