BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Monday pitched for support from people of Gujarat saying that the Lok Sabha election was about giving an opportunity to the son of the land to serve the nation.

Addressing five rallies in the state on the last day of campaining in the state, Modi, the Gujarat chief minister, said his Bharatiya Janata Party wanted to improve living standard of every person and targeted Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her son and vice president Rahul Gandhi.

In his rally at Kheralu, Modi termed Rahul Gandhi a "specimen" and took digs at him over his knowledge of Gujarat.

"As per his mathematics, there are 27,000 crore jobs lying vacant in Gujarat. How can this be possible when the total population of Gujarat is six crore," he said.

He also said Rahul Gandhi's charges concerning over appointment of Lokayukta were not true.

Modi attacked Sonia Gandhi over state's demand for building gates on the Narmada dam, saying it would have given more water to the state.

Recalling his childhood days spent in Vadnagar and his early days spent in organisational work in Gujarat, Modi said he will fulfil his responsibilities towards the people of the state and the nation.

He sought people's support in enabling him to lead the country and urged them to make BJP victorious in all 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
