Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met European Union (EU) President Herman Van Rompuy and Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron during his bilateral engagements at Brisbane in Australia Friday.

In his second engagement of the day after arriving here, the prime minister met an EU delegation headed by Rompuy who conveyed that the 28-nation bloc is keen to "re-engage" with India in all areas, especially trade.

Cameron, who is meeting the Indian prime minister for the first time, told him that relations with India are at the "top of the priorities of UK's foreign policy", according to tweets posted by the ministry of external affairs.

After arriving in Australia, the prime minister visited the Queensland University of Technology where he met researchers and students.

He is here to attend the G20 summit and hold bilateral talks with Australian Premier Tony Abbott.
