Dubbing Narendra Modi a "real common man", Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said he had made a solid beginning as the prime minister of the country and his score card after five years too will be "tremendous".
"There is a real common man inside Narendra Modi and after becoming the prime minister, he has made a solid beginning. With his experiences as the chief minister of Gujrat, I can definitely say that after five years his (performance) score card too will be tremendous," Rajnath Singh said at a book launch function here.
Rajnath Singh along with BJP president Amit Shah released 'Jyotipunj', 'Social Harmony' and 'Sakshibhav' books authored by Modi. A biography of Modi titled 'Modi: Common Man's PM' was also released on this occasion.
"We don't need to read books to follow social harmony in our lives as it is in the DNA of all Indians. Not only that, even the DNA of NDA (National Democratic Alliance) consists of social harmony," the union home minister said.
He said when former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee led the BJP and won elections, the BJP had 182 Lok Sabha members and when Modi led the party in the 2014 general elections, the BJP got a clear majority.
"It was due to the DNA of social harmony and peaceful co-existence that we decided to run a coalition government with all our allies. So no one can question our DNA. It is our commitment, not a compulsion," Rajnath Singh added.
BJP president Amit Shah said the books written by Narendra Modi would inspire the youth of the nation.
"Life of Modi-ji is an open book and no one can raise a finger at him. As chief minister of Gujarat, he initiated the concept of a welfare state and is still following it," he said.
