French football club AS Monaco FC will miss the services of midfielder Joao Moutinho for upto six weeks after he picked up an ankle injury in his side's draw against Lille, the club tweeted on Monday.
The Portuguese international was substituted after just 60 minutes into the Ligue 1 tie against Lille on Friday.
The midfielder then had to undergo a series of tests after which the club confirmed that he would be sidelined for atleast a month.
"MEDICAL REPORT: @ JoaoMoutinho be sidelined 4 to 6 weeks. We wish you a speedy recovery!," the club posted on Twitter.
The 28-year-old's injury come as a blow to Monaco's hopes of reaching the Champions League group stages as he would certainly not be a part of the team which would play Valencia in the playoff on Wednesday.
Monaco would also miss his services for the Ligue 1 game against heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain on August 30.
