German football club Borussia Monchengladbach have signed young defender Nico Elvedi from Swiss outfit FC Zurich.
The 18-year-old agreed to a four-year contract on Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
"Nico is a great talent. He is capable to establish himself in the Bundesliga. He is a versatile player who brings a lot of experience for his age. We are pleased that we were able to win him for our team," Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl said.
The Switzerland Under-19 team captain made 18 first division appearances, providing one goal and assist, and five Europa League matches.
His new club completed the last Bundesliga campaign in third place to book a Champions League berth.
