The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted that the southwest monsoon may hit the Odisha coast by the end of June second week.
"The southwest monsoon hit Kerala on Wednesday. We expect it to arrive in Odisha by the end of June second week," said Met department director Sarat Chandra Sahu here.
He said the state was likely to receive more than normal rainfall this year.
Meanwhile, pre-monsoon showers began in parts of Odisha. But some other areas would continue to experience heat wave between June 10 and 12.
