Moroccan police announced Saturday that it has recently dismantled a terrorist cell that recruits Moroccan combatants for Syria, local media reported.
The cell members are sent to Syria in coordination with terrorist organisations affiliated with Al Qaeda, such as "Cham al- Islam movement", "Al-Nusra Front" and "the Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant", Xinhua quoted the report as saying.
"The cell members used to collect donations to finance the travel of volunteer combatants to Syria, after enrolling and teaching them about various precautions," the police said.
"These Moroccan volunteers undergo specialised training in weapons and explosives as well as suicide-attacks, so that they can, upon return to Morocco, conduct terrorist operations to jeopardize the security and stability of the country," the police added.
Terrorists have been rampant in Syria where the three-year-old crisis has provided a hideout for domestic and abroad terrorist organisations.
