MGM Studios is developing a movie based on National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).
The banner has roped in "Empire" co-executive producer Robert Munic to write as-yet untitled movie set in the racing community, reports variety.com.
MGM TV president Mark Burnett and Roma Downey brought the project to the film division. They previously partnered on a television series revolving around the sport.
While they continue to develop the series, Burnett and Downey still had access to the rights, and brought the property to MGM chairman and CEO Gary Barber, who pushed a film project forward.
Plot details for the film are unknown at this time. However, the story will be set in the world of NASCAR.
