The CISF on Friday held an official of the Bank Note Press (BNP) in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas city for pilfering currency notes, an official said.

The paramilitary force, deployed for the security of the BNP building, caught Manohar Verma around 8 a.m. with Rs 26.09 lakh in currency notes which he allegedly stole from the unit he was employed in.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, deployed at the corridor of the note verification section, noticed Verma hiding some item in one of the empty wooden boxes, a CISF official said.

During frisking, the CISF personnel recovered two bundles of currency notes in the denomination of Rs 200 concealed inside Verma's shoes.

Subsequently, a CISF team searched Verma's office and recovered Rs 26.09 lakh in currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 200 denomination.

Verma, a Deputy Control Officer of NVF section, was in the officer category and as per procedure his clothes and shoes can not be removed during checking while going out of the premises of high security zone of BNP, the CISF official said.

The official, along with the recovered notes, was handed over to police for further action.

The police have registered a case against him and reportedly recovered Rs 64.50 lakh from his residence during a search operation, the official added.
