Mumbai, April 23 (IANS) In a first of its kind record, Indian spiritual guru Shri Rajendra Maharaj has found a mention in Guinness World Records for getting the maximum number of comments -- a whopping 15.62 million -- on a Facebook status.

The uniqueness of the record is that all comments are e-chanting of the holy mantra "Ram", a spokesperson for Shri Rajendra Maharaj's Amogh Dham ashram at Malad in north-west Mumbai, said here Tuesday.

"As of 30 March 2013, the most comments on a Facebook item are 15,629,405 comments achieved by Guru Shri Rajendraji Maharaj Jaap Club (India) in response to a post made on 27 March 2013," the Guinness World Record citation for the feat said.

The record was an outcome of the overwhelming response to the guru's regular 'Amritwani Satsang' discourses at his Malad ashram for the past 25 years.

Last month, his daughter posted a Facebook status asking followers to post "Ram" as a comment. Within hours, there were millions of comments, and at the guru's behest, became an e-chant movement attracting people of all age groups.

His daughter and follower Suchita Kejriwal along with her brothers Ashish and Vineet Gard decided to form an online group named Guru Shri Rajendraji Maharaj Jaap Club and secured the approval for the record from Guinness this week.

Now, Guru Rajendra Maharaj is working towards a new record of getting 90 million comments on "Ram".
