A few Muslim welfare organisations organised a rally here on Monday to demanding an end to the atrocities against the Rohingyas in Myanmar.
The agitation brought the eastern metropolis to a standstill for approximately three hours.
"Thousands of Rohingya Muslims including children have been killed by police in Mynamar. We are saddened by the incidents. The Myanmmar goverment must take responsibility," said Furfura Sharif Peerzada Toha Siddiqui.
West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Adhir Chowdhury, and CPI-M leader Sujan Chakraborty also participated in the rally.
