A terrorist linked with the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) was killed and a police official injured in a gunfight in Assam's Kokrajhar district on Tuesday morning, police said.
Around 11.30 p.m. on Monday, police launched an operation after getting a tip about the presence of NDFB militants in Karigaon area, Inspector General of Police Anurag Agarwala said.
The terrorists opened fire when the police laid a cordon and asked them to surrender. Sub Inspector Ramcharan Rabha was injured in the gunfight, Agarwala said.
"Others managed to escape under the cover of darkness," he said.
The police recovered an assault rifle, a magazine, 15 rounds of ammunition, a grenade and a mobile phone from the dead man.
