Former prime minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said Jawaharlal Nehru's world view is relevant in every corner of the globe.
"Nehru's world view is relevant in every corner of the globe today. Essence of Nehru's political philosophy is empowerment of every individual," Singh said at an international conference here to mark the 125th birth anniversary of India's first prime minister here.
"This conference is not just a tribute to Pt. Nehru, it is a reminder of relevance of his world view," he added.
Crediting Nehru for the "idea of mixed economy", Singh said the co-existence of public and private partnership was the outcome of Nehru's vision.
"Nehru saw socialism not merely as an economic rigid doctrine but as a way of life," he said.
