The death toll in Nepal's devastating earthquake may not exceed 10,000, Health and Population Minister Khagaraj Adhikari has said.

According to him, the toll from the April 25 temblor, which has now crossed 8,000, may not cross the 10,000-mark as some had predicted, Xinhua quoted him as saying. More than 17,800 were injured.

The 7.9-magnitude quake that jolted the Himalayan nation has partially or fully destroyed over 530,000 government and public buildings.
