New Indian navy deputy chief takes over

Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar on Monday assumed charge as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff .

An alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, Pune, he was commissioned into the Executive Branch in July 1982.

Specialising in navigation and direction, Ashok Kumar has served as the navigating officer of Indian Naval Ships Beas, Nilgiri, Ranvir and Vikrant.

He has also been the commanding officer of INS Kulish and Ranvir, and executive officer onboard INS Brahmaputra.
