Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday flagged off a weekly train between Hubballi in Karnataka and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and a daily train between Hubballi and Mysuru through video conferencing here.
Prabhu, after flagging off the two trains, said: "Hubballi is coming up as an important training centre."
"Hubballi-Mysuru Express has been named Vishwa Manav Express," he said.
"This name will be apt with the significance of connecting these two important cities. Hubballi-Mysuru Express will be connecting Mysuru, which has become an important IT hub, and Hubballi-Varanasi Express will serve pilgrims going to Varanasi," the Railway Minister said.
The Hubballi-Varanasi Express will depart from Hubballi on Friday at 5.50 p.m. and reach Varanasi on Sunday at 11.55 a.m. covering a distance of 2,030 km. The same train would leave Varanasi on Sunday at 9.05 p.m. and arrive at Hubballi on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Hubballi-Mysore Express would depart from Hubballi everyday at 8 a.m. and arrive Mysuru at 8.40 p.m. covering the distance of 608 km. The train would depart from Mysore at 6.15 a.m. and reach Hubballi at 7.05 p.m.
