National Human Right Commission (NHRC) has sought detailed report of illegal mining in three months from the Jharkhand government.

"The commission has sought detailed report of illegal mining in three months. The Coal India Limited has also been asked to submit report related to illegal mining. The commission also wants to know the status of the land where mining has been completed," NHRC chairperson Justice H L Dattu told reporters in Ranchi on Thursday.

"The commission has also sought the Crime Investigation Department report in connection with encounter that took place at Bakoria village of Palamu district," he said.

"In Palamu, Central Reserve Police Force had claimed encounter in which few villagers were killed. The encounter was termed by the human right activists as fake," he added.

Dattu informed the media that during open court hearing, a total of 12 cases of police atrocities and death were taken up.

The commission disposed five cases and in three cases the commission ordered compensation of Rs 41 lakh to relatives.

The commission heard 69 cases related to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe and disposed 27 cases.

The two days open court hearing of NHRC ended on Thursday in Ranchi.
