Nitish Kumar ends fast against land bill

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday ended a 24-hour fast he began to protest against the central government's land acquisition bill.

Before ending his fast, Nitish Kumar announced that his government would not implement the bill in Bihar, Janata Dal-United spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said. The bill, with amendments, has been passed by the Lok Sabha.

Nitish Kumar has described the proposed legislation as a "black law" that would hurt the interests of farmers.
