A month after the BJP and the JD-U snapped ties, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha Tuesday said JD-U leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is prime ministerial material and praised him sky high.
"Nitish Kumar is certainly prime minister material," the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha member from Patna Saheb in Bihar told the media at the airport here.
The BJP refused to comment on his remarks on the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader.
"We don't need to answer on what Shatrughan Sinha said. Our Bihar unit will react on this, we will not waste our time on this," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
Shatrughan Sinha also said Nitish Kumar "is a mature politician and a good man".
Asked about the possibility of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi becoming the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha said while Modi was his "dearest leader" and popular nationally, Nitish Kumar "is complete PM material".
Last week, after Shatrughan Sinha met Nitish Kumar at his official residence, the chief minister praised him.
Also last week, Shatrughan Sinha said he favoured BJP leader L.K. Advani over Modi. He also expressed unhappiness over the sidelining of Advani in the party and its decision making process.
