Kim Jong Un, the top leader of North Korea, has emphasised the importance of launching an ideological campaign to make the country's artillery men "the strongest in mental power".
Kim said this at a military conference held on Thursday and Friday, Xinhua news agency reported on Saturday.
Addressing the fourth conference for artillery men, Kim said the most important thing in rounding off combat readiness for artillery personnel is to conduct an ideological campaign and train servicemen not to abandon their revolutionary faith.
"In order to increase the power of artillery pieces, it is necessary to step up the work of modernising artillery hardware as required by modern warfare," he added.
He called on all attendants to become vanguards in preparation for the seventh Congress of the ruling Worker's Party of Korea scheduled for early May next year.
