A 16 year-old boy Tuesday committed suicide in West Bengal's Malda district apparently after being denied permission to attend a rally of Bengali movie superstar and Trinamool Congress candidate Dev, police said.
The incident happened in Gazole in the district, some 355 km from Kolkata.
"According to initial investigation, the class 10 student Dulal Sarkar hanged himself to death shortly after he had an altercation with his father who denied him permission to attend Dev's rally," said an officer of Gazole police station.
Following the argument, the boy locked himself inside the house and was subsequently found hanging from the ceiling.
The actor during the day held a public meeting in Gazole for party candidate from Malda North constituency Soumitra Roy, also the lead singer of folk band "Bhoomi".
