Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde will lay the foundation stone of 489 residential quarters and 580 barracks for the National Security Guard (NSG) at its Manesar base near Gurgaon in Haryana Oct 29, an official said Friday.
The NSG, also known as "Black Cat commandos" is a federal contingency force assigned responsibility to battle terrorism and hijacking. It is a force used also for VIP security.
The NSG was expanded in 2009. To meet the training and residential requirements of the increased number of troops, the government of India has approved construction of residential quarters including barracks and training facilities.
