The Delhi government on Tuesday decided to discontinue its special bus service for parliament members due to poor response from the lawmakers over two consecutive days.

"Keeping in view today's (Tuesday) experience and following consultations with concerned officials in both houses of parliament, it has been decided that the remaining two buses for MPs will be reverted back to the DTC fleet from Wednesday morning," Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai said.

The Delhi government had on Monday arranged six special buses to ferry the lawmakers to parliament during the second leg of the odd-even traffic scheme.

Due to the poor response from the MPs, the city government had on Monday evening decided to reduce the number of special buses to two from six.

On the 12th day of the odd-even scheme, Rai himself visited several places including the ITO crossing and Geeta Colony flyover and randomly checked cars bearing CNG stickers to verify if they actually ran on CNG.

He, however, could not find anyone with fake CNG stickers.

The transport department challaned 452 people who violated the odd-even scheme on Tuesday.

The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), under the ministry of Earth sciences, said that particulate matter pollution (PM 2.5) rose from 107.3 on Monday to 132.3 on Tuesday.

The corresponding figures for PM 10 level was 198.5 and 244.6, it said.

The second phase of the odd-even scheme will continue till April 30. The first phase was conducted between January 1 and 15.
