The inflow of foreign tourists to Odisha is showing a declining trend. But the number of domestic tourists has gone up marginally.
Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on Wednesday told the state assembly that Odisha's share in the total number of foreign tourists visiting India was only 0.83 per cent in 2015.
This stood at 0.93 per cent in 2014.
While 80,27,133 foreign tourists visited India in 2015, only 66,971 came to Odisha. A total of 71,426 foreign tourists visited Odisha in 2014 while 7.6 million came to India, said the minister.
The domestic visitors' inflow has increased by 9-10 per cent a year.
While 90.53 lakh domestic tourists visited the state in 2012, it was 98 lakh in 2013 followed by 1.07 crore in 2014 and 1.17 crore in 2015, Panda said.
