Odisha, which has been hit by severe heat, is likely to experience rainfall and thunder squall by Wednesday, the Met department said.
The Odisha coast is also likely to see strong and gusty surface winds in the coming days and fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.
"Thunder squall with hail/rain and wind, with speed reaching 50-60 kmph, likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak," said a bulletin.
Bhubaneswar Met centre Director Sarat Chandra Sahu said low pressure is likely to be formed over the Bay of Bengal within three days which would bring down the temperature in the state.
He said the low pressure would help the onset of monsoon in Odisha.
